Patent is an intellectual property right granted by the government/sovereign of a country to the inventor for a particular invention to exploit the invention for a limited period of time in the exchange of full disclosure of invention.
It is an exclusive right granted to the inventor which excludes third party from making, selling, offering for sale, importing the patented product or process without the legal consent of the patent holder.
According to Patent Act, 1970 the term of Patent protection granted in India is 20 years subject to payment of annuity.
